Chambers USA Ranks Conn Maciel Carey LLP “Band 1” Nationally for Occupational Safety and Health Law (OSHA & MSHA)

Conn Maciel Carey LLP (CMC) is honored to announce that the firm has been recognized as one of only three national law firms ranked “Band 1″ Nationwide for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Law for the third year in a row, which includes both OSHA and MSHA. Five of the firm’s OSHA- and MSHA-specialist attorneys were also recognized in the rankings. CMC remains the only “boutique” firm among the law firms recognized.

The recognition comes from Chambers and Partners (Chambers), an independent research company that delivers detailed rankings and insight into the world’s leading lawyers and law firms. The rankings are generated based on independent research by Chambers and feedback from private companies that utilize OSHA legal services. CMC has been ranked “Band 1” every year Chambers has ranked the OSH Law category.

Among the client testimonials collected by Chambers about the firm, one stated, “Every attorney we deal with is strong and they work well as a team. The firm is very well positioned to handle the most complex and sophisticated matters in the OSHA space.”

Five CMC attorneys were individually ranked among a short list of leading OSHA and MSHA lawyers in the Nationwide OSH Law Rankings – Eric J. Conn, Chair of the firm’s national OSHA Practice, one of only eight attorneys included in “Band 1,” Kate McMahon, an OSHA Partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office, and Aaron R. Gelb, Head of the firm’s Midwest OSHA Practice. Both McMahon and Gelb were listed among the Top 20 OSHA attorneys nationally in “Band 2.” Valerie Butera, Senior Counsel in Detroit, MI was ranked “Band 3,” and Nicholas W. Scala, Chair of the firm’s national Mine Safety and Health (MSH) Practice was included in the Up and Coming category.

“We were so proud when CMC’s national OSHA Practice was selected as one of only three Band 1 rated firms in the first year that Chambers ranked the OSHA Law category, but to have held on to the top spot now for three straight years, and to continue to be the only boutique firm to receive the Band 1 designation, is especially gratifying,” said Conn, reflecting on the achievement. “It’s even sweeter knowing that the recognition is a direct result of feedback from our valued client-partners.”

“I am humbled and proud to be recognized for the unique philosophy and constructive approach that is the foundation of our Occupational Safety and Health Practice,” said McMahon.

In response to being ranked in the Up and Coming category, Scala commented, “It’s an honor to be recognized with my colleagues and peers at the forefront of the Occupational Safety and Health law field. As Chair of CMC’s MSHA practice group, I’m particularly thrilled that Chambers continues to acknowledge Mine Safety and Health’s importance in the OSH legal landscape.”

“I am pleased to see Nick’s recognition, which totals three individually recognized attorneys in the Midwest alone alongside two distinguished attorneys on the East Coast,” said Gelb.
